Dart Adams On The Significance Of Banner 18 To The City Of Boston

Author, Dart Adams

The Boston Celtics' 18th championship win was such a massive event for the city because although they faced adversity, nonbelievers, and naysayers at every turn, WE, the fans, always believed in them. They came close numerous times in the past. Back in 2018 after losing Gordon Hayward and Kyrie Irving they were completely written off, but behind a young Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, and Terry Rozier they were 6 minutes away from beating LeBron James to reach the Finals.

After a disappointing 2019, losing in the Eastern Conference Finals in the Bubble in 2020, a down season in 2021, losing in the 2022 NBA Finals after being up 2-1 on the Golden State Warriors then losing Game 7 at home in the 2023 Eastern Conference Finals to the Heat, a lot of other fanbases would buy into the prevailing narrative that the Boston Celtics couldn't be trusted to get over the hump and meet expectations. Boston fans understand that winning involves a process,
each of these past disappointments prepared this core to execute in 2024 and have a historically dominant regular season and postseason. Faith was rewarded for the team, organization, and fans alike.

We lost beloved players along the way like Marcus Smart and Robert Williams III, but with the additions of Derrick White and Jrue Holiday we have the defense, versatility, experience, and clutch play necessary to win championships and become an all-time great squad. No matter how much media personalities, NBA pundits, journalists, analysts, commentators, reporters, and content creators try to discount their accomplishments or downplay the Boston Celtics' achievements, their true fans will always have their backs.

I've lived through six Celtics championships but they never get old. The Neighborhood Collection and the release of the Mathmatik Athletic Banner 18 jersey brings together Celtic's fans, whether they've experienced multiple championships or celebrating their first one. The Banner '18 jersey is dedicated to the fans who always believed that Boston is the city of champions.

We have 16 different Boston neighborhoods and towns in the Greater Boston Area available as options to commemorate the Boston Celtics unveiling banner 18 and their ring ceremony on October 22nd, 2024. The pre-order for the Neighborhood Collection Banner 18 jerseys is live

there.
